Automate Something to Share Daily
Think about the items you share on a daily basis, because we want you to automate one! You could create a twitter bot that says good morning or a script that shares a daily pet photo with your friends. Pick any task, automate it, and submit your hack on our Week-Long Devpost!
Create a Brand Concept
Calling all artists and designers! For this challenge, we want you to imagine a fictional company and create a branding concept for it. You can make this as detailed or simple as you’d like. You could make logos, flyers, a website mockup, social posts, or anything else you need your fictional company might use!
Create a Web Scraping Application that helps your Community
We know hackers always want to learn web scraping at hackathons, so we want to encourage you to explore this subject during LHD: Share. Your project could scrape class data to help students plan their course schedule, look into grocery store prices to compile the best sales, or anything else that you can share with your community to help others out.
Create a Business Plan
Have you ever wanted to turn one of your projects into a startup? Create a business plan - it could be for a project you’ve made, something you’ve dreamt up, or even a product that already exists. The goal of this is to take some time to think about how you would share a product with the world. Consider including a market analysis, financial projections, and management plans.
Build a Translator
The hacker community is incredibly diverse, so we’d love to see you create something to allow you to share around the world. Build an application to help translate between languages - you could translate sign language or spoken languages!
Create a Health App
Create an application to help folks stay healthy. This could be a step counter, database with healthy recipes, or application that tracks symptoms
Create a Financial Hack
Whether you’re tackling budgeting for college students or financial modeling for stock markets, we want to see you create something inspired by finance. This can be as simple as looking at data from one or two stocks, or as complex as a holistic view of someone’s finances.
Create a Mobile App
Much of the sharing many of us do on a day-to-day basis takes place on our phones. That’s why we want you to try creating a mobile app this week. It can be any type of app on any platform.
Create a Browser Extension
Many of us have browser extensions we rely on. Make one of your own to help make your web-surfing experience better.
Make a Website for Your Guild
Your guild would feel even more official with a website, right? Create one and show it off on our Week-Long Devpost. You’ll even earn more points for more contributors, just make sure each contributor submits individually on Devpost.
Build a Crypto Hack
Crypto/blockchain applications seem to get more and more popular! Try incorporating blockchain into a project and send it to us (securely) on devpost.
Deploy a website using a .com domain name from NameStudio
Use NameStudio to register your .com domain name and get ready to deploy your website!
Deploy a Personal Website using Linode
Having a personal website up and running is a great way to share with the world the things you’re working on. Use Linode to deploy your personal website and show it of here.
Deploy an application using Linode
Choose any of the projects you’re currently working on (or create a new one!) and deploy it using Linode.
Download Tabnine to your text editor and use it to write some code
Check out Tabnine and use it in any code you’re writing this week.
Search for what to Share
We’d love to see you build a hack or project that leverages search! If you’re looking for a cool tool to use, Jina.ai is joining the MLH community in late April. Get a sneak peek at their platform now.
Store what you Share
We know that new hackers especially struggle with setting their first database, so we want you to explore databases this week in a low stake environment. Our friends at DataStax have 5GB of free storage for you. No credit card needed to sign up! Build any project that leverages a database and submit here!
